Every Boxing Day, New Zealand’s oldest racing club, the Alexandra Racing Club, hosts the Pirongia Boxing Day Races. Enjoy a flutter on the horses or just soak up the social atmosphere at this iconic Boxing Day tradition. This event is particularly unusual because every other day of the year, the racecourse is actually a golf course.
